What Is Included in Our Gutter Cleaning Service

We do not just scoop debris and leave. We complete an 8-point service.

  1. Debris removal by hand
We use gutter scoops and trowels. No pressure washing. No leaf blowers blowing debris onto your roof. Hand removal protects your gutters from damage.

  2. Downspout flushing
We run water through every downspout to confirm flow. If a downspout is blocked, we clear it using a plumber’s snake or high-pressure water (directed into downspout only, not at gutters).

  3. Gutter inspection
We check for sagging sections, separated joints, rust spots, and holes. We photograph any issues and include them in your report.

  4. Fascia and soffit inspection
We look for rotted wood, peeling paint, and water stains. Rotted fascia cannot hold gutter hangers properly.

  5. Downspout outlet check
We ensure downspout outlets are not blocked by debris or ice. We check that water discharges at least 4 feet from your foundation.

  6. Splash block and extension check
We inspect splash blocks and downspout extensions. We reposition any that have been moved by lawnmowers or foot traffic.

  7. Debris haul-away
We bag all debris and take it with us. No piles of wet leaves left on your lawn.

  8. Photo report
We email you photos of your clean gutters and any issues我们发现. You know exactly what was done.

How Often Do You Need Gutter Cleaning in Surrey

Property Type Recommended Frequency Why
No overhanging trees Once per year (fall) Leaves from neighbors’ trees still blow in
Some overhanging trees (1-2 trees) Twice per year (spring and fall) Spring for moss and seeds, fall for leaves
Heavy tree canopy (3+ trees) 3-4 times per year Constant debris from evergreen needles, moss, leaves
With leaf guards Every 2-3 years Leaf guards reduce frequency but do not eliminate need
After roof replacement Once immediately after Shingle granules and debris from roof work

Surrey homes under heavy tree canopy (South Surrey, Fleetwood, parts of Guildford) need cleaning 2-3 times per year. Homes in newer subdivisions with few trees may need cleaning only once per year.

We offer recurring service scheduling. Book spring and fall cleanings at the same time. Save 10% on the second visit.

Why Professional Gutter Cleaning Is Worth It

DIY gutter cleaning risks:

  • Ladder falls: 500+ Canadians go to the ER each year from ladder falls

  • Roof damage: Walking on wet or brittle shingles cracks them

  • Gutter damage: Using a leaf blower from ground level blows debris onto your roof, where it washes back into gutters

  • Incomplete cleaning: DIY often misses downspout clogs and fascia rot

Professional cleaning includes:

  • Safety equipment: Harnesses, ladder stabilizers, proper footwear

  • Insurance and WCB: You are not liable if we fall

  • Downspout flushing: We confirm water flows

  • Damage inspection: We find problems before they become expensive

  • Photo documentation: You see what we saw

A $150 to $300 cleaning is cheaper than a $2,000 fascia repair. Call 236-838-9577 to schedule.

Signs Your Gutters Need Cleaning Now

Do not wait for your scheduled cleaning if you see these signs:

  • Water spilling over gutter sides during rain

  • Plants or moss growing in gutters

  • Sagging gutter sections (debris is heavy – a 40-foot section can hold 200+ pounds of wet leaves)

  • Stains on fascia boards below gutters

  • Water pooling near your foundation after rain

  • Birds or pests nesting in gutters

  • Downspouts that do not drain water (check during rain)

  • Ice dams forming in winter (clogged gutters trap water that freezes)

If you see any of these, call us. Do not wait for your next scheduled visit.

Combine Gutter Cleaning with Roof Maintenance

We offer a bundled service: gutter cleaning + roof maintenance.

What is included:

  • Gutter cleaning and downspout flushing

  • Roof moss treatment (soft washing, no pressure)

  • Roof inspection (shingles, flashing, pipe boots, valleys)

  • Attic inspection (ventilation, decking, stains)

  • Minor roof repairs (up to $200 value)

What We Check During Your Visit

In addition to cleaning gutters, we inspect for problems that need repair.

Gutter issues we look for:

  • Separated joints (leaks at seams)

  • Sagging sections (hangers pulled out of fascia)

  • Rust spots or holes (especially on older steel gutters)

  • Improper slope (water should flow toward downspouts)

  • Missing or damaged end caps

Downspout issues we look for:

  • Clogs (we clear them)

  • Loose or missing elbows

  • Disconnected sections

  • Downspouts that discharge too close to foundation (we recommend extensions)

Fascia and soffit issues we look for:

  • Rotted wood (soft, crumbling, discolored)

  • Peeling paint (water damage behind the paint)

  • Holes from animals or pests

  • Missing or damaged soffit vents

If we find any issues, we photograph them and include them in your report. We provide a quote for repair if you want us to fix it.

See our gutter installation page for repair and replacement options.

Prevent Future Clogs with Leaf Guards

If you are tired of cleaning your gutters twice per year, consider leaf guards.

Leaf guards cover your gutters and keep leaves, moss, and debris out. Water flows through, debris slides off or washes away.

Leaf Guard Type Cost Effectiveness Recommended
Mesh screen $8 to $12 per linear foot 80-90% Budget option
Micro-mesh $12 to $20 per linear foot 95-99% Best for most homes
Reverse curve $15 to $25 per linear foot 90-95% High rain areas

With leaf guards, you still need gutter cleaning every 2-3 years instead of every 6-12 months.

See our leaf guards page for detailed information.

FAQ

  1. How long does gutter cleaning take?

A typical home takes 1 to 3 hours. Townhouses: 1-2 hours. Large homes with heavy tree cover: 3-4 hours.

  1. Do I need to be home for gutter cleaning?

No. We need access to your property (unlocked gate if applicable). We will leave a report card and email you photos. You can pay by phone after the work is complete.

  1. Do you use a leaf blower or pressure washer?

No. We remove debris by hand using gutter scoops. Leaf blowers blow debris onto your roof, where it washes back into gutters. Pressure washers can damage gutter seams and spray water behind fascia boards. Hand removal is safer and more thorough.

  1. Do you clean gutters in the rain?

We prefer dry days for safety (ladders are slippery when wet). Light rain is okay. Heavy rain or thunderstorms: we reschedule.

  1. How far in advance do I need to book?

Spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) are our busiest seasons. Book 2-4 weeks in advance during these times. Summer and winter: 1-2 weeks.

  1. Do you offer recurring service discounts?

Yes. Book two cleanings (spring and fall) at the same time and save 10% on the second visit. We will send you a reminder before each visit.
